For those that aren't familiar with the Valkyrie, here's a brief description:
“When a maiden warrior screams for courage as she dies in battle, Wóden and Freya heed her call. The two gods give up lightning to strike her, rescuing her to their hall, and preserving her courage forever in the form of the maiden’s immortal Valkyrie daughter. Valkyrie take sustenance from the electrical energy of the earth, sharing it in one collective power, and give it back with their emotions in the form of lightning. Possess preternatural strength and speed. Also called Swan Maidens, Shield Maidens. Enemies of the Horde."

In the series, Nïx the Ever-Knowing is the first born Valkyrie who is a soothsayer. Her visions have made her semi-deranged, but her humor has made her endearing. She sees the future more clearly than the present. Hence her craziness. Like most of the female characters, her witty dialogue is infectious. Here's a couple of samples:
“Nix: "Do it, or the pictures go live!" Witch shakes her fist at the sky, crying, "Damn you, Valkyrie! Damn you and your digital ways!” ― Kresley Cole, Kiss of a Demon King
Love that Valkyrie!
What about you? Are you familiar with the series? Do you have any favorite secondary characters that your reading or writing? How much of an emphasis do put on them?

I have never read the series..sorry to say. The book Lies of Locke Lamora that I am reading right now. I am liking Jean the secondary character. I do think that there is quite a bit of emphasis put on him with with skills and journey with Locke.
Like the play on words with her name.
I've never read the series but you've piqued my interest. I love when witty humor is woven into books.
I've heard of the series but never read them. Nix sounds like an interesting character.mmmh I think it's the high time I got myself Immortals after dark.
i am not--yes--in my story---"queenie's bequest"--one of the secondary characters is much more fascinating to me than the main one
I have not read the series. I'm popping in to say Hi as I surf the A to Z.

No I haven't read that series, but I like reading about Valkyrie. (I was thinking of the German interpretation - Brynhildr and Siegfried).
Interesting post, Mina,I like some of those old legends. Food for thought on betrayal, and come-uppance.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Wow, I think this is the first post of yours I haven't known about. Must look into the awesome sounding Nix.
Secondary characters are usually my fav... especially if they add quirks and humor. And I haven't read this series! Nice "N" today :D
I haven't heard of this serious before. I love the dialogue you posted, though!
The Golden Eagle
The Eagle's Aerial Perspective
No, I'm not familiar with the series but I like the cleverness behind the spelling of her name. That's also a cool picture.
I haven't heard of her before, but she sounds like an awesome character.
Sounds like a good series. Valkyries are not to be messed with.
It's important for secondary characters to have their own history, quirks and opinions etc, not just to facilitate something in the plot, that's for sure.
Sounds like a series I should check out! I am trying to build more on my secondary characters so I can use them in the future, bringing them to the front when called.
I haven't read this series, but it's on my TBR. I keep moving it up, but my pile is pretty endless. I wonder if there is an audio version...
@Geeky Daddy - Have to check out Lies of Locke Lamora. Thx.
@Alex J. Cavanaugh - I agree too. And boy does Nix like to play.
@Elise Fallson & @Cecilia M. - Yes, she's frigg'n hilarious.
@Lynn Proctor - I love that when 2ndary characters are like that. :)
@Lucy Adams - Howdy!
@D.G. Hudson - Yes, it's totally different from that. :)
@S. L. Hennessy - Nix the soothsayer. She's a nut.
@Morgan - Cole is an amazing writer and if nothing else...hilarious!
@The Golden Eagle - The Valkryie dialogue is the best.
@Cynthia - Yeah, I can't wait to read her story.
@Medeia Sharif - Awesome is an understatement. She rocks!
@Nick Wilford - "Valkyries are not to be messed with." Not these immortal babes, no.
@Michael Pierce - I agree. I think sometimes writers forget to do that.
@Kayla Beck - Yes, I believe there is. I follow Cole on FB and she every now and then talks about her audio books.
I also a sorry to say that I have not heard of this series. This will be something to look forward to this summer. Once of my favorite series is Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series. The character Niki, is one of my favorite.
