Fridays with Fred & Book Blogger Hop

Fridays with Fred is here & Book Blogger Hop too! WOW! I am Iate for this post! Sorry! Thanks for picking me Crazy-for-Books! I do love this question because I often think about it.

"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…
which one would it be and why?"

There are several series I would do this for but if I have to name one, I have to say…Harry Potter. Why? Because I want to be a wizard! I want to soar the skies on a broom (Nimbus 2001) and fight the evil Lord Voldemort with my magical wand. I want to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and learn all about magic & potions, attend classes, fight a death match with a spider in an enchanted forest. And I want to play quidditch for Cripes sake! Doesn’t that sound like fun? It does to me.  Anyway, that’s my answer. I’m sure I one of millions who feel the same.

And now...Fridays with Fred!

Did you know that I used to have another Jack Russell Terrier? Her name was Buffy and she was beautiful.  But…about three years ago, she ran away.  As you can see Fred had some fun with her as did Buffy with Fred.  They weren’t best friends per se, but companions nonetheless.  Fred doesn’t like sharing the top spot, if you can imagine that.  I guess it’s a dog thing.  Anyway, when Buffy took off, it devastated our family including Fred.  To this day, we still search for her.  Today, we find humor in her leaving, attempting to reason why she left.  We joke saying comments like Buffy couldn’t take the BS of living with us anymore and so she got the hell out of Dodge type thing.  And so *sniffle*…I thought I’d share this sweet photo I recently found of the two of them. It’s a classic scene of Fred running around and Buffy trailing him.  Don’t they look like their having fun?

Enjoy your weekend!

If you'd like to see more of Fred, try here and here.  Also, please stop by and visit Schatze over at Mary's (BookHounds).  She's one of Fred's other hot babe.

And if you get a chance, enter to win a signed ARC copy of Rachel Caine's latest, Bite Club!  Contest ends April 3rd, eod.

Until next time...

Fridays with Fred & Book Blogger Hop

Good Morning! Happy Friday, everyone. Welcome to Fridays with Fred and Book Blogger Hop. Starting off with Book Blogger Hop, there’s an interested question that’s been asked. This week's question comes from Somer who blogs at A Bird's Eye Review.
Book Blogger Hop

"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"

Interesting question. I read several. It’s just the way I do it.  For me it all depends on what little time I have to read what. Location. Location. Location. There are times when I’m out and about and I get a few lines in from an ebook on my iPhone- and in that case, I read whatever book is readily available.  Other times, at night for example, I take in a couple chapters of a book by my bedside. Everything depends on what I’m doing - when I'm doing it. And one more thing. There are times when I pick a book that just not resonating with me but I still want to finish it. It may take me longer but usually finish. Its rare for me to abandon books.

This week on my blog, I reviewed for Rachel Caine's Ghost Town. If you can...check it out. And BTW, I just finished reading an ARC copy of Bite Club. Jealous? You should be. Stop by over on Sunday for my review and surprise!  Want to know more? You'll have to come back!

And now…Fridays with Fred.

This shot below is of my prankster pooch and his crazy ways. Fred’s been busted below in the bathtub. I’ve seen evidence of him there i.e. paw prints peppered everywhere. I didn’t get it at first, because Fred hates taking a bath. Then I realized, he was thirsty. So I doubled up on his water supply, thinking that would help. Nope. His tracks continued to show up around in the tub, even when he knows he’s not supposed to. The little devil. Oh well. It just means more cleaning for me. In the scheme of things, if it makes him happy and its not hurting anybody…have at it, Fred.

Don't forget to check out Schatze over at Mary/Bookhounds. We just want to eat her up!

Until next time...

Fridays with Fred & Book Blogger Hop

It’s time for Book Blogger Hop and Fridays with Fred.  Wow!  This week blew by, huh?  I love Friday (my fav day…TGIF.)  Anyway, the Book Blogger Hop has an interesting question this week.  I actually submitted a question last week.  I’m not sure if someone’s submitted it already, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Book Blogger Hop

This week's question comes from Ellie who blogs at Musings of a Bookshop Girl:

If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?

This one’s fun. Okay. At first, I said I’d put the $ towards a Kindle, but then I recanted. As much as I'd relish a Kindle, I’d probably prefer an iPad instead. That being said, I easily listed these books in no particular order:

Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead’s
Born to Bite by Lynsay Sands
Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Bite Club by Rachel Caine
No Rest for the Wicked by Kresely Cole
Ten Stories about Smoking by Stuart Evers

NevermoreSuccubus BluesBorn to Bite: An Argeneau Novel (Argeneau Vampires)
Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, Book 1)Bite Club (Morganville Vampires, Book 10)No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, Book 2)Ten Stories about Smoking. by Stuart Evers

And now on to Fridays with Fred

Did you know this past Tuesday was Fat Tuesday?  Well…now you do.  Fred did his own thing as usual as did his friends.  I decided to give Fred a rest this week and feature one of his buds.  This picture comes from Carla and what a picture it is.  This is either Darcy or Sophie – not sure which and the mask doesn’t help.  This pooch is all decked out and in full Fat Tuesday mode.  I love it.  Happy Mardi Gras!

Don't forget to check out Schatze over at Mary/Bookhounds.  Fred really adores her.

Until next time...enjoy your weekend!

Fridays with Fred and Book Blogger Hop

Okay, so it’s that time again: Fridays with Fred and Book Blogger Hop. I'm combining the two again so I hope you don't mind.  :0)

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question comes from Mia who blogs at Girl About Books:

"Who's your all-time favorite book villain?"

Great question.  For me there are honestly too many to count.  So I broke it down into two villains the seriously scared the living shit out of me when I read these books.  I honestly don’t think I could pick them up again if I wanted to.  First is Stephen King’s It.  I’ve never looked at clowns the same since.  He’s a monster and a villain and he’s masterfully embedded in my brain thanks to King.  Who’s with me on that one?  Yeah, I thought so.  Next would have to be Dean Koontz’s Intensity.  If you haven’t read that book you’re missing a heart palpitating/thrilling read.  The villain - Edgler Forman Vess – was another one that scared the *@#&** out of me! Whew!  Those two are enough!

As for Fred, he wanted me to shoot him in his favorite places; the kitchen – specifically his nook. He just finished eating in this pix, so don’t feel bad for him. And he’s an Oliver Twist fan too! Aw, Fred…with all the food, treats and scraps you get off the floor, you hardly need more. Anyway, we thought we’d share with you. Enjoy your weekend!

Be sure & check out Schatze over at Mary/Bookhouds.  Fred really adores her.

Last but not least.  Enter to win my Free Book Contest of Kresley Cole's latest book, Dreams of a Dark Warrior!  Contest runs until March 17th, eod!

Until next time...

Fridays with Fred & Book Blogger Hop

I’m combining today's post with Fridays with Fred and Book Blogger Hop. I’ve been so busy lately that I figured what the hey.

Today’s Fridays with Fred is another shot of Fred as a puppy – kind of like this one.  But this is one of my fav shots of Fredster.  If you can see, he even has a doll sweater on.  Those were several years ago but this pix was so darn cute, I couldn’t help myself.  Enjoy!

Before I forget, please take moment to check out Schatze over at Mary/Bookhouds. She’s just so adorable I can’t stand it.

And now onto my Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop
This week's question comes from Jen B. who blogs at I Read Banned Books:

"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

Excellent question!  My answer….absolutely not!

First off, I’m not changing my name.  Enough said.  And as far as the tag, “books for paranormal & mystic minds" - that’s exactly what you get when you're on my blog.  If you look at my header image – the woman with the worn book and creepy face - that’s how I feel when I write/read paranormal, horror, and mystical books. It sucks me in and takes me away like magic. That’s why I chose image and the tag. This blog and my writings are dedicated to the creepy side of things and that’s precisely how it will remain.

Next question…

Thanks for stopping by. If you missed one of my earlier reviews, check out Beautiful Creatures posted earlier this week.

Until next time...have a great weekend.

Book Blogger Hop

S’okay, I’m doing the Book Blogger Hop again.  Whoop!  Yeah, it’s cool.  I might not do it every week, but I'll participate as often as I can.  Once again, I’d like to thank Crazy for Book for doing this. It takes quite a commitment to host this every week, so…thanks!
Book Blogger Hop

And now down to business.

This week's question comes from Aliyah who blogs at Des Absurdités:

"What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why are you anticipating that book?"

Where to start…how about I give my favorite 5?

• Larissa Ione’s Eternal Rider, to be release April 2011.  Oh yeah, this one for sure will be a delicious read.  It's a spin off series of her bestselling Demonica Novels.  And BTW, I’m having a Free Book Contest for Book 1 of her Demonica Novels, Pleasure Unbound check it out!

• Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines, to be released in August 2011.  Why am I excited?  Um...hello!  It's the spin off series of Vampire Acadmey, that's why.

• Lara Adrian’s Deeper than Midnight, to be released June 2011.  This is the continuation of the vampire Breed Warrior series and its just hot, hot HOT!  Can't wait.

Jennifer Turner’s Eternal Hearts, Book 2 in the Darkness Within Series.  The release date is  TBD, but you can read the first three chapters here FREE!.  If you haven’t read Book 1, Eternal Seduction…Get on it!

• Jennifer Ashley, The Many Sins of Lord Cameron, release date, August 2011.  Yeah, I realize that one’s a historical romance novel, but I’m so gaga over these books,  I’ll take any chance I get to whoop, holler and rave!  Go Mackenzies!

Anyway, that’s it! Hey, I’m sure I could keep going.

Until next time...thanks Book Blogger Hop.  That was a ton of fun!

Book Blogger Hop

It's time for the Book Blogger Hop again!  I’m not sure if I’ll be doing this every week, but I will make an effort.  It’s a great way to meet other blogges and see what books are hot etc...  Last week I checked out the following blogs a bunch of blogs.  I love seeing and reading the passion that others have about books.  Check out Crazy-for-Books.com to see all the participants in this week’s blog hop. And if you get a chance…hop on by.

Book Blogger Hop

And now…onto the Blog Hop question. This week's question comes from Barb who blogs at Sugarbeat's Books:

“Why do you read the genre that you do?
What draws you to it?"

There are two genres I’m crazy about.  First, I love paranormal romance – (YA or Adult) the darker the better – and the second, historical romance.  I’m a sucker for rogue vampires and rebellious rakes.  Go figure.  For paranormal, which I believe urban fantasy falls into this category a tad, I love the mystical side of it.  Aren’t there times in your life when you ask yourself wouldn’t it be cool to fly or have magic or live forever?  And then of course there’s the romance side of the paranormal – which is absolutely paramount for me.  I must have my romance or else…bleh!  As for historical romance, I guess it goes back last week’s previous question about “What’s your favorite book?”  I said Jane Austen, so I think it’s only natural that I adore this genre as well.  I'm fascinated with regency novels and how women were overall perceived back then.  It’s frightening to read how women's lives were easily dictated by men. Scary huh?

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and be sure and check out my posts this week:

Until next time...hop by more often.  You're always welcome!

Book Blogger Hop

Well, better late than never, I always say.  I’ve wanted to do the Crazy-for-Books book blogger hop for awhile now.  It only last through the weekend (ends Monday), but it still sounded like fun.  I’m always on the lookout for friends and fellow bloggers to network with, so this hop is just my cup of tea.  Each week, a question is asked and all of us fellow bloggers answer it in our post.  This week’s question is a good one.  It’s something I still ponder about to this very day.  How cool is that?  This week's question comes from Ivan who blogs at Ivan Bookworm.

 Book Blogger Hop

What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?

Truthfully, I have to say Jane Auten’s Pride and Prejudice changed my life.  If you can believe this, I never read Austen’s book in high school.  I never had to.  Isn’t that tragic?  Anyway, I literally stumbled upon it in a book store – a year or so later.  I was purchasing other classics and saw this one on sale so I bought it.  And that’s when everything changed.  Why?  The characters.  They felt real, alive even.  And the fact that it was written by a woman, living in a man’s world, discussing taboo topics was for me ground breaking.  Jane Austen is without a doubt eternal inspiration.

Until next time...thanks for the hop, Crazy-for-Books!
