I Beg Your Pardon: My Blog Hiatus & other Updates

I apologize for taking an unscheduled blogging hiatus last month and this month.  I don't believe I've ever gone this long without blogging, but I unexpectedly came down with the flu.  This bugger of a cold knocked me on my a** for the better part of two weeks.  The good news is I'm better now that I'm on antibiotics and a whole host of other medications.

To make matters worse, work piled up which caused some serious delays for me.  Additionally, my sick leave has crossed over into my vacation which has caused other problems.  It's no fun feeling like crap when you're supposed to be on vaca, huh?  Anyway that's life.  Before I forget, I want to apologize for not being able to visit my blogger friends.  I promise by next week, I'll be cruising the blogosphere, stopping by to say hi to everyone.  I hope to be back on my blogging schedule by next week.

In the News
Every now and then I come across some great articles for writers.  These are two that I saw that I thought I'd share.  Let me know what you think if you get a chance.

The Battle Cry of the Romance Authors - Another great article on the what traditionally published authors are faced with nowadays.

Must-read article on Why social media isn't the magic bullet for self-epublished authors.  Reader beware.  There is a ton of speculation in this article, but I think the best message is to diversify your marketing efforts when promoting your book.

Gah, it stinks getting sick, but moreso in summer, especially when it bleeds over into vacation time! I'm sorry you've been having a rough time and hope the meds are doing good work for ya!

Thanks for all the helpful links!

Oh man! I am knocked down too right now... it's awful! Soar throat, runny nose, head that feels like it has 20 lbs of pressure stuffed inside it... so crappy! I hope I'm not down for 2 weeks like you were! Ugh!

But great stuff here... I'm so stoked for cute Kyra. :)

Nothing worse than being sick unless it being sick during summer!

Great to meet you at CeCe's blog today. You asked if Alligators Overhead would be okay for a 7 yr. old. I think so. One 7 yr old I know is reading it with her mom.

See you again!

Hi Mina,
Wow. Chock full of info. I already have Game On, caught her blog tour somewhere...been on that A-Z road trip...have 38 new books on my Kindle. Have zero time to read...dilemma.
I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. I'm right there with you. I went on the cruise of a lifetime, and my Olympic scale asthma really protested my return from Alaska to a mile high (live about an hour north of Denver) and I caught a bad bout of bronchitis and got 8 days of %^$#%@# bed rest. Talk about contrast. I mean, laying on your bed watching Alaska out the window, or sitting on your balcony doing the same is so not like being forced to stay in your bed and drag yourself to the bathroom, while meanwhile, your family (The Engineer, and sons 15 and almost 13) trashed the house and mommy isn't fixing it anytime soon...bleh. Hope you're back to feeling better soon. I'm off bed rest, but still zapped of any energy.
Thanks for your email. Glad we're on the same page now ;-)
